COP 28 - Tourism United for Climate Action: Delivering on the Commitments of the Glasgow Declaration

Since its launch in November 2021 at COP26, the Glasgow Declaration has successfully activated governments and industry stakeholders to work collaboratively at a sectoral level and beyond, increasing the number of signatories to more than 800.

The side-event “Tourism United for Climate Action – Delivering on the Commitments of the Glasgow Declaration” will showcase the tourism sector's capacity to enact concrete climate action, including measurement of tourism emissions, decarbonization strategies, regenerative approaches for destinations and innovative finance.

The Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism represents a comprehensive framework for cooperative climate action by all stakeholders in tourism. It underscores the importance of mitigation, through its decarbonization pathway, while also recognizing the need to adapt to changing climatic conditions as well as the opportunities and resilience that integrated mitigation-adaptation approaches can deliver, through its regeneration pathway.
