National Strategy and Actions Plan of Integrated Management of Oasis Ecosystems (SNPA-GIEO in French)
To promote the sustainable management of oasis ecosystems in Niger in order to mitigate the adverse effects of land degradation, biodiversity loss and climate change by climate change by strengthening the resilience and well-being of the population dependent dependent on the services and goods provided by these ecosystems
The SNPA-GIEO sets out four (4) strategic priorities:
➢ Strategic priority 1: improve knowledge of Niger's oasis ecosystems in order to combat the factors contributing to their degradation
➢ Strategic priority 2: promote sustainable agriculture using agroforestry and agro-ecology to preserve oasis systems
➢ Strategic priority 3: promote research into oasis ecosystems
➢ Strategic priority 4: Restore, develop and make rational use of the resources resulting from the exploitation of oasis ecosystems.
